这家名为「The Catch 来抓吧！」的餐厅尚未正式开张前就引起大人的注意啦！不止是其红彤彤的外观，也因这是大人每天的必经之路 (没错，大人府还真是近在咫尺叻)，而且这所房子很久很久以前还是大人同学的家啊…
Huddled within the growing multitude of Western restaurants lies a speciality cuisine that’s been drawing the masses with seafood boils, with the Cajun-inspired food fast assimilating into the hearts of the locals as it did with the natives of Louisiana – the birthplace of this unique heritage. While these restaurants might not teleport us to this rich Southern state, we are getting the next best thing with dishes this authentic.
Forget about Krabby, Omanyte or other water type Pokémons with no Pokéballs required, you are definitely assured of a good catch if you can first hook a table here. Who would have thought the former residence of our ex-schoolmate is now a hot spot for catching up over great seafood… ok and the occasional Pokémons too?
新山的大丰花园向来是马新老饕们的觅食重地，这家位处半独立式角头单位的洋房，经店家以红黑二色巧手改造之后还真是酷啊！爱民如子的大人不禁问起这里的行政主厨 Eddie 为何会选址于此？「两年前就看中了这个地点！」好眼光！大人可没奉承店家啊，因为这街道 Jalan Sutera 可是每天车水马龙，加上耀眼的外观，难以忽视啊！在欧洲居住了10年，7年前才回马发展的Eddie，曾为新山多家著名餐馆 (看官们一定都吃过) 制订菜单，大人听了就好期待！
The Catch Restaurant is in a crimson corner house along Jalan Sutera (near another local’s favourite seafood restaurant) that has long been earmarked for another great F&B adventure, for its eye-catching prominence and super prime location, which we can fully testify from our three decades of calling this neighbourhood home. According to Eddie (culinary director), it has been a long two-year wait that has finally paid off. Trained in the United Kingdom and worked in the Savoy London before returning home, Eddie is also involved with a few restaurants in Johor Bahru which some of you may find familiar.
Since The Catch opened on 14 July 2016, it has been a full house every night. The restaurant interior is clean and brightly lit with a lot of natural sunlight, complete with communal tables to let family and friends gather elbow-to-elbow for fun feasts that are evocative of a casual nautical theme associated with the deep south’s seafood boils. The tables are lined with large plastic placemats, which is a hint to what comes next…
Fresh catch directly from the sea
Fresh seafood forms the foundation for recipes that Eddie proclaims have been tried & tested through many months (and mouths) from the kitchen. These includes all-time favourites such giant lobsters, crabs prawns, clams, mussels and other fresh catches directly from the oceans off Australia, Indonesia and local waters, we are sure these line-ups can surely get you excited, and create a whole new arena of expectations!
Australia Seafood Extreme
As one of JB’s latest live seafood and dining concept restaurant, the fun starts when we get to check out all the fresh ocean-trawled selection served raw on ice “off the boat” brought in from all over the world. We get to order individual items which they will boil together in a sauce of our choice, or just go for the combo if you are lazy to decide like us. After we are done choosing, simply inform the staff how we would like it prepared; and if you are still not sure, they will gladly recommend the best cooking method from these great options:

好吧今日雀屏中选的就是三号与四号「一桶海鲜与九层塔」！先说说三号的一桶海鲜吧！大人所点的是两人份Set A墨尔本混合组 (Melbourne Mix Set，价格为RM138)，共有三种酱料供选择：悉尼香辣番茄 (Sydney Spicy Tomato) 、咸蛋黄酱 (Salted Yolk Sauce) 及辣橄榄油 (Spicy Olive Oil)。虽说是两人份，当服务生将海鲜倒出时，还真是吓了大人一跳！好大好多啊！目测能喂饱三人以上！螃蟹、大虾、苏东、各色蚌类、时蔬等五彩缤纷，「大人别急啊！先戴上手套才大抓特抓吧！」
After having a tough time deliberating on how to enjoy our “catches” best, we finally settled for the Seafood in a bucket and Pagoda Steam. The servings are pretty generous that includes Australian mini lobsters, prawns, black mussels and white clams that come with broccoli, corns, onions and herbal butter rice that serves two. We swore this Set A (Melbourne Mix Set) could easily feed three or more, and we wasted no time in sinking our molars into this selection that also comes with a choice of three dips from Sydney Spicy Tomato, Salted Yolk Sauce or Spicy Olive Oil.

东抓西抓一番后，必须先赞一赞「The Catch 来抓吧！」，因为每次大人品尝蚌类海鲜时，都被空壳欺骗真心，这里的蚌类可是货真价实的叻！还有还有，喜欢蟹黄的看官们请注意⚠️ ，大人吞了一口后实在太迷人啦！「大虾够新鲜非常赞！一咬下去逃不出大人的嘴！酱汁并没有抢走海鲜的原味，不过由于大人平日偏爱较软嫩的苏东煮法啦… 但这并无碍整体的口感哦！这种边吃边聊边抓的感觉好写意哟！」大人真的非常享受这类型无需顾忌形象豪迈的吃法！这些海鲜满足不了你？别担心，看官们还能单点波士顿龙虾、澳洲小龙虾、巨型皇家蚬等 (时价)。
The seafood boil operates on a simple concept that works marvellously for us. Toss everything, including the sides and sauces into a bucket and voila – tasty seafood we can eat with our hands that involved shelling these spiced crustaceans and shells without care for glam-ness or clean fingers! You guess it, no cutlery needed (gloves provided), just great, messy fun for our group of hungry foodies which almost seems like a gift from the heavens. Indeed, nothing quite compares to the first divine slurp the moment we detach the mussels from its shell. At the rate we are going, some of you might want to check out your missing favourites from their seasonal a la carte add-ons such as the Boston Lobsters, Slipper Lobsters, Giant Royal Clams just to name a few.

Presenting Asia’s latest culinary sensation is this visually exciting, varieties of seafood are cooked layer by layer from top to bottom. Starting from the layers top down, we began light with the vegetables which helped to cleanse our palette from the earlier indulgence. Then comes the expensive items such as crabs, prawns, scallops, clams and mussels, most of which are firm and sweet – a sure sign of freshness. As the seafood is steamed, the delicious and yummy juices are collected at the base which forms a highly flavourful clear soup base free of MSG and naturally sweetened with cooked seafood drippings that we slurped right to the very last drop.

除了各色海鲜料理外，「The Catch 来抓吧！」的单点 A la carte 餐谱也让人看得心花怒放！ 计有烤肉串、鸡翼、烤羊扒、烤猪扒、烤猪排、什锦海鲜拼盘、炸鱼薯条、香烤肥鸭、螃蟹上汤冬粉… 主厨还偷偷告诉大人，接下来还将推出西式与日式的 Fusion 料理，实在太让人期待啦！而且每逢傍晚时分户外还有一艘海鲜船载满各式新鲜海产让顾客们大抓特抓啊！「大人的哀嚎看官们听到吗？大人为何只有一个胃啊！」
We were close to bursting at the seams after all that seafood but if you still feel hungry, check out their other staples such as Catch Wings, skewers, grilled lamb chop, pork chop, pork ribs, mixed seafood platter, fish & chips, aromatic fat duck, crab with tung hoon (vermicelli) to provide a comforting end to your meal. Before we call it a day, Eddie whets our appetites for more to come from their Western and Japanese fusion menu, and who knows, there might even be some Pokémons thrown in for a better catch too LOL!
