在此品牌尚未大举南下时,大人其实已在年前於首都率先尝过其滋味,果然不负大人我亲自出马大排长龙后的期望,软食力惊人,难怪人气始终不坠啊!当初还心想若品牌能南下新山那就能时时尝鲜,想不到这儿的年轻主人与大人我的味蕾雷达竟有雷同呢!而且还选址於大人府附近,嘿~ 当然这一切绝对纯属巧合,还是得遵循亲尝宗旨上门拜会这全马第五家的 Softsrve 霜淇淋专门店的滋味后再下定论 (全马五家分行为:Damansara Uptown、Sri Petaling、Ampang Point、Pavillion KL 与新山) 。

The soft serve craze is here to stay, and after opening to much fanfare in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s very own soft serve joint has finally landed in Johor Bahru after Damansara Uptown, Sri Petaling, Ampang Point and Pavilion KL. In fact, our first encounter with Softsrve early this year during a trip to KL was unforgettable, and little did we realise that our affinity would continue so soon within a space of weeks, and only a stone’s throw away from our workplace. What luck (cluck cluck cluck) LOL!

原本从事服饰业的姐妹俩这回选址位于茂奥斯汀的 Akademik Suites 公寓二楼商用单位,全室有着日式风格里的洁白简约,与打着全手工制作、讲求新鲜度的 Softsrve 霜淇淋并采用了本地草饲乳牛制品的概念不谋而合。自1月14日正式启业后深受各族裔青睐,大人今日在此享用美味时,便目睹了许多附近的在籍院校生、家长、旅居本地的外籍人士等陆续上门光顾为彼此留下一段轻甜的夏日解暑霜淇淋时光噢!

Softsrve is a homegrown franchise which serves its namesake and prides itself for the unusual flavours on offer. Brought to JB by two sisters who are both fashion and food-conscious, the small, pristinely white and somewhat spartan cafe on the second level at the Akademik Suites went for a cleaner Japanese look with the pinewood and white hues. The white walls, bright natural lighting and wooden furniture, will come in handy as backdrop and props to style our Instagram post of the ice cream. We also love that there are huge windows rather than just walls which give the whole place a really cheerful feeling. Since opening its doors on 14 January this year, people from all walks of life are spotted here be it young or old, male or female; everybody from the student population and nearby residents loves getting some ice cream.

欣赏了室内氛围后,是时候让大人品尝久违的滋味啦~ 据说新山的滋味选择与其他四家分馆有些许不同噢,还是有请主人家为咱们推荐才是上策啊!

We don’t have to ponder too long about what to order, for the menu is really simple and straightforward. However, the flavours of choice here do differ from their other outlets in KL so let’s see what the sisters have in store for us…

Sunflower

太飘逸了吧~ 以干冰夹带黄梨花片的 Sunflower (Caramelized Sunflower Seeds with Dried Pineapple Flower, RM12) 叠出了仙气十足的造型。大人这回挑选了乌龙茶口味的霜淇淋 (也可挑选黑巧克力口味),搭配了微甜香脆的葵花籽与黄梨花片后果然一拍即合!「本地少见的乌龙茶口味浓郁而不腻,乃因主人每日不懈手工搅匀精选自意大利的霜淇淋原料、牛奶与浸泡多时的乌龙茶叶才有的真实滋味!原有的茶涩瞬间点睛,大人一吃就爱上了~ 落足眼力看还能瞧见乌龙茶渣噢!难怪一推出即晋升为店家最受欢迎的口味!」

This cup of refreshing Sunflower consists of a dehydrated flower-shaped pineapple, sweet and crunchy sunflower seeds, and a strong Oolong tea-infused ice cream which was inviting on the first bite and quite a tease given that it was so subtle. In fact, the roasted black tea was soaked with milk sourced from a local farm to offer a savoury & bitter finish, but we are sure you’ll love this best-seller regardless if you are an avid tea lover.

Other than theatrics, the effect of the dry ice is not just for looks but also serves to keep the temperature low so that our soft serve would melt slower.

 Matcha Egg Puffle

抹茶口味的鸡蛋仔加上黑巧克力霜淇淋,试问有谁能抵挡?店内人气之选 Matcha Egg Puffle (Dark Choclate Softsrve + Caramelised Sunflower Seeds + Chocolate Crumble + Honey, RM18) 若现点需待10-15分钟,因为这儿崇尚现做现吃的新鲜口感,所以到手后的鸡蛋仔脆度实实在在征服了大人的舌尖噢!「香脆的鸡蛋仔尚可尝到一丝蓬松空气感!淋上了微甜的丝丝蜂蜜后,搭以微苦醇厚的黑巧克力霜淇淋及巧克力香屑,午后的酷热皆被这股柔顺轻巧的气势瞬间击退了!」

If your sweet tooth is aching for more, the Matcha Egg Puffle is a must try! The 15-minute wait for these fresh, made-to-order oddies foodies is worth our while as the egg waffles have a distinct eggy taste and aroma reminiscent of the street stalls in Hong Kong. Crispy and airy on the inside, the “gai dan zai” paired well with the creamy ice cream, honey and caramelised sunflower seeds that have the right amount of sweetness and texture. Even the dark chocolate soft serve is also a joy by itself with its chocolatey nuance.

Houjicha Cream Kakigori

Houjicha为日本焙茶之意,经过烘培的绿茶叶之后呈红褐色,并带有微甜与焦糖香;而 Kakigori 则为日本刨冰,两者结合之后造就了这碗外观犹如富士山的冰品。到底采用了进口自日本的焙茶粉所制的冰品 Houjicha Cream Kakigori (RM18) 有何独特之处呢?「记得淋上随附的浓茶酱 (可自行加入),同时别小觑那弹牙的日式花生麻糬!铺顶的现打鲜奶油细腻绵软,轻香口感与苦中带甜的焙茶冰相融后太清爽!一人一口的努力果然有了甜蜜的回报,冰品底层原来潜藏了甜而不腻的红豆泥呢!」

It almost felt like “Konnichiwa, ice to meet you” as we break the ice with this Kakigori that play it cool with distinctively spirited flourishes. A sub-zero remedy for our perpetual summer, supplying succour like snowfall in Fuji-san, the refreshing notes of the Houjicha (roasted green tea) sauce really help cut through this Japanese shaved ice dessert which makes for an alternative that is worth ordering! Compared to our earlier matcha, houjicha is on the smoother side while the former is more on the rawness of the green tea itself, but both are daintily milky and filled with their respective tea fragrance. Overall, the Houjicha Cream Kakigori together with the accompanying mochi filled with azuki paste and crushed peanuts was the perfect perk-me-up for the afternoon, and a classic combination and can never go too wrong.

主人家在店门口特留了一处白,从窗外即可窥见众人认真对待霜淇淋的模样,大人真的好喜欢这个角落 🙂  目前每日由中午12点营业至晚间11点的 Softsrve,若是碰上特别假日也可上他们家的instagram或facebook专页查询营业时段 (据闻新年除夕就曾营业至凌晨3点呢)。可容40-50人的场地也欢迎看官们在此举办活动,更多详情请亲洽店家噢!

The first Softsrve outlet in JB currently serves 40-50 pax comfortably and opens from 12 noon to 11pm daily, but is known to extend their hours during public holidays. As the ice cream joint is still young, we expect the menu to grow in the coming months as Softsrve is known for coming up with new “pop up” flavours for a limited time only, so do watch their Facebook and Instagram closely to see what’s new, and share the sweetness and calories around LOL!
