Overlooking the Strait of Johor, Thistle Johor Bahru was once the poshest hotel (formerly Hyatt Regency) this side of the Causeway when it first opened in September 1994 and remained one of Johor Bahru’s prominent landmark along the city’s waterfront and the, just off Jalan Lingkaran Dalam (Inner Ring Road). Aptly named for its lush surroundings by the poolside where we can appreciate its charming ambience and exciting meal menu, Oasis Restaurant is your trendy open-air bistro that serves a wonderful array of contemporary Italian and Mediterranean fusion. We can watch the chefs compose in the open kitchen which makes it exciting and entertaining, while the open-air concept by the pool offers views of the tropical gardens and swimming pool, enough to enjoy a cosy meal or a leisurely drink as we watch the sunset over the tropical foliage.
这数道精致前菜颜值不低哦！大人最爱的 Tomato Bruschetta 以腌制过的樱桃小番茄搭上乳酪屑提味，「啵！爆开的汁液与烤得香脆的面包未免太相配了吧！不会过于重口味的 Tomato Bruschetta 作为前菜相当称职！」
若赴会人数较多，不妨点选几道主厨热荐的沙律让大伙儿暖暖胃：以金枪鱼为主角的 Green Bean Potato Salad with Tuna and Lemon Soy Vinegar 与微甜的腌制蜜汁鸡肉沙律 Honey Chicken Salad with Avocado Salsa 亦极受食客青睐哦！
Juicy, sweet and sufficiently sour, our starter dish of Tomato Bruschetta was refreshing and appetising. The bread was toasted to a degree of hardness substantial enough to hold the tomatoes and sauce together without turning mushy while still maintaining crispness on its edges. Given the size of our entourage turnout, we were also treated to other fine appetisers such as the mildly spicy Green Bean Potato Salad with Tuna and Lemon Soy Vinegar and the tangy-sweet Honey Chicken Salad with Avocado Salsa.
招牌披萨 Signature over-baked pizzas
Made from scratch with fresh ingredients and served oven-baked to perfection from its signature wood-fired brick oven, good pizza need not have fancy toppings. Just as we thought, the fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, oregano and a little tomato sauce in the Margarita Pizza is a classic example of less is more, and the Pizza Al Tonno also delivered a great Italian job, with both pizzas’ distinctive wood-fired smokiness and crispy charred edges won us over.
主食 Main Course – Aglio Olio Pasta | Pan Fried Salmon with Capers Lemon Butter Sauce | Roasted Lamb Rack
以蒜米香油拌匀的 Aglio Olio Pasta (上图一) 太合大人我心意了！「微辣的胡椒与辣椒丝的点缀让蒜米香提升了一个等级！看那油脂均匀抹身面条上，咸度掌控得宜，口感不俗哦！」
这摆盘好有银河系的自在辽阔感！以香烤三文鱼为主角的 Pan Fried Salmon with Capers Lemon Butter Sauce (上图二) , 微焦香的皮衣在蘸上微酸开胃的鲜柠奶油汁后，「食欲一发不可收拾。」
Tossed with olive oil, chilli flakes, parsley and garlic and arguably one of the simplest pasta to make but tricky to get right, our little bowl of Aglio Olio Pasta (top) was highly satisfactory. Not to be outdone, our Pan Fried Salmon with Capers Lemon Butter Sauce (bottom) was roasted just right, flakes ever so slightly, with the salmon meat extremely soft and simply a joy to eat!
哔哔！品尝这一道 Roasted Lamb Rack 时千万得与红萝卜并食哦！「烤炙过的红萝卜干丝有股独有的甜味，搭着毫无膻腥味的羊肉简直相得益彰。」味蕾瞬间得到了满足！
Done medium, the Roasted Lamb Rack was flavourful and was surprisingly not overly gamey, and paired well with the sauce and the roasted baby carrots in particular.
嗜甜如命的看官们应该无法抵挡眼前画面，大人决定将芸芸甜点中的最爱颁给了… Apple Crumble! 甜度100的饭后小点心，大人总不能都贪心装下肚吧 😄，Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, Crispy Blueberry Pie, Opera Cake, 你们也别太难过，请记得大人我还是爱着你们的！「将脆饼派剖开后，大人才发现里头藏满了色彩斑斓的浆果馅料！饱足感与甜度十足，切记分享才为上策啊！」
As much as we advocate “eating healthy”, we have a love-hate relationship with desserts. While we do limit our intake of sugar, any meals at the hotel are our indulgent days LOL. We just couldn’t resist their freshly baked Apple Crumble with its delightful crunchy crumbles as well as soft, not overly sweet cooked apple chunks, while the Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, Crispy Blueberry Pie, Opera Cake also contributed to a lovely end to our satisfying meal.
