位于新山直律街与陈旭年街交界处的EHHE Art Cafe,其非常具辨识度的装潢绝对吸引眼球。保留了大量手作原木装置的室内陈设,不乏让密探粉丝大拍特拍的Instagram角落啊~ 话说大人在这儿用膳时总能遇到许多老朋友,可见其魅力之大啊!

Situated right at the cultural gateway of Johor Bahru, with the unique privilege of enjoying three road frontages at Jalan Trus, Jalan Ibrahim and Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, EHHE Art Cafe is fast gaining a reputation as one of the city’s coolest favourite hangout place, with familiar faces and Instagrammers found chilling among the many little nooks and cosy corners. Some tables were created from wooden sculptures that resembled horses, created from old planks that were salvaged from the original building, giving the cool place a relaxing warm feeling.

大人我密访这里不下十次了,只因其让人回甘的咖啡香与三色奶茶非常诱人啊!传统的好滋味仿如魔咒一般,潜意识就把大人带入这个美食密室了!最让人惊喜的是摆盘精致的食物,售价却亲民地不得了!份量十足的椰浆饭只需RM3.90,油亮的Sambal酱可是厨房全手工翻炒,却丝毫没有与饭香争艳的念头,红白各司其职犒赏食客的味与胃。有没有看到那颗黄白分明的荷包蛋在呼唤着大人我啊~

In no less than 10 occasions (but still falling short of their true regulars’ standard), EHHE has never fails to intrigue us on our every single visit. Serving an interesting menu of traditional food delights with a modern twist, the prices are super reasonable, with our all-time favourite and “appetiser” nasi lemak starting from RM 3.90. The addition of gula Melaka in the making of the sambal chilli further enhances the fragrance of the sweetness which is proving to be highly addictive. The same gala Melaka is also used to sweeten the soon-to-be-launched 3-layered milk tea, a deli­cious con­coc­tion of red tea and evap­o­rated milk care­fully pre­sented unstirred in multiple layers.

除了椰浆饭,大人和密探们还点了米暹、各式烤面包、金枪鱼可颂等,呼朋唤友开怀大吃,时间咻地一声就到午餐了!大人我必须承认我很喜欢他们家的香兰加椰酱,香!滑!

Joining our “big breakfast” repertoire are various popular local entrees such as Mee Siam (with the same sambal of course), homemade pandan kaya toasts and eggs (yummy), croissant with tuna and mayonnaise (fulfilling) and before we knew it, lunch time will be soon upon us (and we seemed hardly interested in making room for our main courses still)…

放眼望去,午餐时间涌入了大批附近的上班族们光顾,看来可负担的美食加上室内冷气,确是享用午餐的好地点!每桌都必点的擂茶意大利面,擂茶香配上满满的菇类,既不油腻也能当成素食食用,堪称镇店美食啊!还有还有,卖相诱人的辣椒螃蟹意大利面选用了极好的蟹肉,配上香喷喷的辣椒,叫人怎能按耐得住,卡路里胆固醇抛诸脑后!这里的鱼扒和海南鸡扒也颇受食客欢迎哦。外皮酥脆,里头却仍保留着肉汁的香味,不简单啊!大人向来食量极大,义正辞严地告诉看官们,这份量毫不欺场啊!

In line with our earlier observations, EHHE is a popular hangout with art decor, air con and full service, with diners enjoying all-day breakfasts even at mid-afternoon. The unanimous choice among the lunch time crowd from nearby office buildings is the Thunder Tea (lei cha) Spaghetti with shrooms which boasted a strong nutty flavours, with an added refreshing aftertaste on the palette and surely a must-try for the health-conscious and vegans. For added spice to your day, check out the Singapore Chili Crab Spaghetti, with its fine slivers of pulled crab meat in savoury sweet spicy sauce leaving many asking for more. Alternatively, head for a showdown between contemporary and traditions, with the modern day crispy Fish and Chips taking on the Hainanese Chicken Chop with its uniquely thick and tangy Tan Hiok Nee sauce drawing huge cheers from both camps. Mark our words, the servings are extremely generous so be sure you come with a empty stomachs and great appetite!

主食7分饱后,大人想为你献上沙律,百香果爱玉冰和店家自制的冷压果汁!在这太阳太猖狂的日子里,任何冰饮都有解腻解睏的功能啊!新鲜的冷压果汁还能排毒呢!大人一饮而尽更显舒畅。只能说EHHE Art Cafe真的了解食客们的需求啊,男女老少不分种族不分时段都一网打尽啊!大人我满意啊~

After a hearty meal and if space permits, go for a simple and flavourful green salad or passion fruits honey jelly to aid your digestion. For us, we decided to go for the C booster with celery, lemon and orange as our perfect detox and thirst-quenching solution to the hot and sultry hot climate. The cold pressed juices came in colourful liquid transparent glass bottles – stylish, refreshing and really cool, enough said!
