Located at the lobby level (six) and is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Amaya Food Gallery incorporates influences from the architecture and food market culture of different Asian countries. As a whole, the concept resonates the true heart of the Amari experience with its textures, “Colours & Rhythm“, with some of the walls decorated with wood panels styled after the tall rectangular grid pattern of traditional “fa pakon” wall modules. We couldn’t help but marvel at the specially commissioned panels and screens while counting the iconic Thai elephants synonymous with Thai culture!

在酒店留宿了一夜后,俗语说:「早吃好,午吃饱,晚吃巧!」大人今日的闹钟当然就由咕咕作响的肚子来充当,「最喜欢他们家的松饼,既蓬松又弹牙,口感不俗!」。除了松饼之外,尚有丰盛的大早餐与各式五谷营养早餐、新鲜果汁等,作为一日当中的第一餐好称职。

酒店逢周末也备有自助晚餐,原来这儿不止装潢用心,餐点选择也目不暇给、赏心悦目!但大人今日想要推荐的乃 Amaya Food Gallery 的单点私房料理,举凡大伙儿熟悉的街巷平民美味皆可在此寻获,「再也不必一家晃一家地尝,真好。」

Breakfast at Amaya Food Gallery can be a truly satisfying affair, judging from the hearty and healthy spread from cereals, waffles, pancakes, fresh toasts and juices to kick start our most important meal for the day.

For those of us who enjoy flying over to Bangkok and gorge ourselves silly on Thai gastronomy of all forms available in the streets, you’ll be happy to hear about the lunch and dinner spread which will effectively turned the 240-seater restaurant into a grand display of world-class street food flavours, combining various cuisines of the East and West.

招牌饮品与前菜 Signature drinks & appetisers

人类若想抗炎热治郁闷,来杯舒畅饮料或许是大人所能想到之最佳对策,这两杯必点招牌饮料 Green Apple Asam Boi (青苹果酸梅汁,RM18) 与 Teh Tarik (拉茶, RM12) 正有此功效!

True to our local fashion, we almost always begin most of our meals with the restaurant’s signature drinks, and both the refreshing lime and sour plum drink with a sweet twist (Green Apple Asam Boi) and Teh Tarik fit the bill!

童叟无欺「泰」好吃!一系列的泰式前菜料理名称让大人瞬间有点混淆,但是滋味却绝不含糊!Som Tam (青木瓜沙拉, RM18) 酸辣甜咸香脆层递的口感用以开胃最称心,「泰国东北的风味较平时在曼谷所尝更辣哦!随着豆子香搭配食蔬慢嚼,干湿两脆的清爽倒是让唇齿间降了一点温。」

To get us prepped for the big meal ahead, we started us with a zesty Som Tam (papaya salad) with green papaya, chilli, garlic, lime, dried shrimps, peanuts, spring beans and market vegetables that were extremely appetising, crispy, tangy and sourish.

Larb Gai (泰式辣拌薄荷鸡肉碎, RM18) 与 Yum Talay (泰式香辣海鲜沙拉, RM30), 两道以鱼露、青柠汁、辣椒等调料提味的泰国东北部前菜,加身於鸡肉与海鲜之后口感大不相同,「鱼露总是如此点睛,以生菜搭配薄荷叶包裹齐食,咀嚼时一股微辣异香在口中逗留,看似清爽但滋味可不失色!」

Larb Gai (spicy minced chicken salad) and Yum Talay (Thai spicy seafood salad) further struck a fine balance between the spiciness and the taste of the meat. The basil chicken was so delicately chopped into small and bite-sized pieces, a mouthful of it together with basil gave the dish a really aromatic fragrance, while the balance of sweet and spicy seafood was dead on for us that we could eat this all day.

Gai Yang Jim Jaew (泰式烧烤腌制鸡肉, RM20) 让大人好惊艳!皮脆生香的软嫩鸡肉里夹着香茅、姜丝与蒜蓉,长桌间情不自禁地一再赞赏,此起彼落,「再蘸上随附的辣酱,实在泰好吃啦!必点!」

The Gai Yang Jim Jaew (grilled marinated chicken with herbs) came with a generous amount of meat which paired well with the oyster sauce and Thai chilli dressing for an ultimate savoury-spicy combo. Truly an explosion of flavours in the mouth that started our meal on a good note.

泰式料理 Thai specialities

你我最为熟悉的 Tom Yum Goong (冬炎汤, RM30) ,在这可是后劲十足,入口之际好顺滑,吞咽后却有火辣辣的感觉!超刺激!来自泰国东北部依善地区 (Isan) 的 Chef Ball 告诉大人,「这乃是家母的传家食谱,泰国东北部的冬炎一般会较辣,而烹煮时改用椰奶更能呈现香醇浓郁的口感。」

Not for the faint hearted, the Tom Yum Goong by Chef Ball really doesn’t scrimp on the chilli and other fresh ingredients, and rightly so. Hailing from the Northeastern province of Isan, this is authentic Thai food served the way it should be – hot! Coupled with his mum’s secret recipe and the use of coconut milk, we found the soup refreshing palatable and easy on the throat. The gradual build-up of flavour made us want more with every mouthful, something we felt made the dish satisfying and shiok!

口感顺滑的 Green Curry – Chicken (泰式青咖喱鸡, 食蔬版RM20, 鸡肉版RM24, 牛肉版RM30, 鲜虾版RM32) 上桌时随附白饭,「以椰奶烹制而成的浓甜青咖喱可算是泰式料理中较为温和的主食,只需一勺汤汁便能消灭一碗白饭!」

A staple on any Thai menu, the Green Curry contained the usual ingredients like coconut milk, eggplants, basil leaves, with a choice of vegetables, prawns, beef or chicken. The chicken pieces that were prevalent throughout the curry were tender and incredibly flavourful. Although the curry was creamy, it wasn’t overwhelming and had a nice mouthfeel, and it’s no wonder that we kept shovelling spoonfuls of this pleasurable, delightfully gravy in our mouth. There’s no such thing as “cutting down on our carbs intake” in the presence of this homemade dish with a side of steamed fragrant rice LOL.

泰国国民料理 Phad Thai Goong (泰式炒粿条, RM36) 口感好弹牙!「记得添加随附调料,大人喜辣,佐以青柠辣粉绝不手软。」

A firm favourite and one we would return for, again and again, the Phad Thai Goong (stir-fried rice noodles) is as authentic as what we would find in Thailand, with the prawns, dried shrimps, egg and bean sprouts are tossed together with the rice noodles before the right amount of seasoning of tamarind sauce and other spices are added to it. The best part of all, the noodles don’t feel too greasy in the mouth. Do ask for the traditional condiments of sugar, crushed peanuts and chilli flakes to amp up the flavours in this dish.

道地料理 Local favourites

其实 Amaya Food Gallery 的餐谱里融合了样式丰富的亚洲与大马料理,饕客们可依各自的喜好点选。Chicken Tikka (印度香料烤鸡块, RM24)「肉眼所见皮衣微焦略显干柴,其实不然,这道烤鸡块出乎意料味清香、肉锁汁,佐以青酱酸奶后更是一绝。」而视觉效果呈浓郁的 Kari Ayam Nyonya (娘惹咖喱鸡, RM26) 则秉承了娘惹料理一贯的南洋香气,妙在似浓却不浓,以新鲜香料匀和而成的异香见长,「谁能对娘惹美食说不呢?大人自认办不到。」

We were also pleased beyond measures to discover a good variety of local and Asian specialities such as Chicken Tikka and Kari Ayam Nyonya, to name just a few. The boneless chicken meat was tender, and the yoghurt and garam masala dip that was part of the dish brought out the whole flavour, a very unexpected delight despite its appearance. On the other hand, the curry chicken meticulously prepared with coconut milk, spices and lime leaf was another irresistible dish leaning towards Thai-style curry and comes with a heavy, spicy kick.

Asam Pedas Ikan (亚参鱼, RM32) 肉嫩入味,鱼块份量不俗,「这鱼肉与食蔬烹至香软俱全,辣得合宜,是大人今日极为钟爱的料理之一。」 红艳绿作陪的 Kaidai Jhinga (印度咖喱虾, RM39) 以香料覆身,印式料理自成一格不似东南亚美食多汁,饕客们杀个片甲不留前「请把酱汁留下!如此珍贵一滴也不能浪费。」

Our taste buds were further tantalised with the mouthwatering Asam Pedas Ikan, a spicy, sour stew with fish fillet cooked in tamarind broth, basil, chilli paste, ginger flower and ladyfingers. Fortunately, the dish was not too spicy and let us crave for more. The Kaidai Jhinga (Indian semi-dried curry) is another curry recipe with capsicum, red chillies, tomatoes, garam masala and cilantro for a tasty way to enjoy our prawns, something we found somewhat different from our usual way of cooking.

另两道名不虚传的白饭杀手:以姜葱提味的 Wok fried Beef Ginger (姜葱牛肉, RM34),精巧刀工将牛肉与姜片以毫米呈现碟中,「薄嫩牛肉仍能吸饱姜汁,微咸辣也太下饭。」另一道虾子料理为 Szechuan Prawns (川式干烧大虾, RM32)看似与印度咖喱虾同属辣味一族,原来少了香料多了辣油,天下美食做法何其多,美味各据一方聚在此,「川式干烧大虾将虾背剖开后更入味,干油亮是这道料理上桌后的特色。」

Chinese food addicts won’t be left unfulfilled as the restaurant has quite a presentable selection of our local favourites such as Wok-fried Beef Ginger and Szechuan Prawns. The sliced beef strips are wok-fried to perfection with a crispy coating, spring onions, ginger, onion and sweet oyster sauce which was very gratifying, while the succulent prawns were wok-fried to juicy golden perfection and perfumed with garlic and onion, with the Szechuan chillies imparting a gentle heat to the mixture that really warms up our bellies as well!

招牌汉堡 Amaya Beef Burger

招牌汉堡 Amaya Beef Burger (Australian Beef Patty 180gm, Sautéed Onions, Truffle Mayonnaise, Brie Cheese, Steakhouse Fries and Side Salad, RM60) 真实尺寸比肉眼所见还高耸软嫩牛肉饼内搭奇厚无比的芝士、洋葱、番茄、生菜,「美味第一,形象其次,大口咬下这招牌汉堡绝对能尝到里头每一层次的绝美滋味!无筋的牛肉口感吃起来好过瘾。」

Considered a great “atas” grub, the Amaya Beef Burger is a must-try for burger enthusiasts. The patty itself was made with quality Australian beef of about 180gm and wasn’t too salty, even with the addition of sautéed onions and melted brie cheese. The truffle mayonnaise sauce and toasted sesame buns were a joy to devour with the juicy beef patty and served with steakhouse fries and a side salad, this burger will keep us coming back for more. With the Amaya Beef Burger going for a fabulous price of RM20 every Fridays during lunch, there’s simply no excuse to say that you can’t afford a good TGIF burger!

招牌甜品 Signature desserts

「皮衣酥脆好加分!」大人指的即是 Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (上图,RM28) 那温热浓郁的微甜口感与香草冰淇淋冷热交加好契合,「适时搭以草莓解解甜腻,企图掩饰深重的罪恶感。」 总而言之,极得人心。

If you thought that nothing could be better than chocolate, think again. The Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream has been a huge hit. Resistance is futile, with the blend of a moist chocolate cake exterior and a rich, melted chocolate fudge centre culminating in an incredible explosion of chocolatey goodness that is to die for.

以杏仁片入味的布朗尼口感扎实,浇上巧克力酱后的 Macadamia Soft Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream (下图,RM24)「看看这排场即知何谓甜上加甜!」

The Macadamia Soft Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream is one we’ve definitely got to take our time to savour, if you are a fan of almond, macadamia and chocolate since each bite will be decadent, sinful and worth every cent. Seriously, this was so incredibly satisfying!

「香茅口味的 Crème Brûlée 也太好吃了吧!而且还超解腻,与各式浆果搭配中和了甜味,毫不突兀!」身为 Crème Brûlée 头号粉丝的大人我啊,对于这滋味特别的 Lemongrass Crème Brûlée with Fresh Berries (RM20) 绝对是有赞无弹。

There’s a reason why Crème Brûlée went from being an obscure medieval dessert known as “burnt cream,” to its de rigueur status on just about every restaurant dessert menu in the western world, and this version (Lemongrass Crème Brûlée with Fresh Berries) served at Amaya Food Gallery was a hit. Topped with fresh berries, the vanilla and lemongrass join forces for a breezy take on the classic dessert, making things interesting and cut through the richness of the custard without overpowering it.

Glazed Tangy Lemon Cheesecake (RM28) 不属入口即化,芝士醇厚微酸,底部饼层较温湿,「入口后满是柠檬香郁,巧为芝士添香解腻。」

Looking to end our meal on a high and invigorating note, our unanimous was the Glazed Tangy Lemon Cheesecake. The cheese layer was full of zesty flavour and a refreshing taste burst immediately on our tongues. The texture of the cheese was really smooth and well blended, neither too sticky, nor was it too loose. The sweet finish does it!
