还记得第一次品尝Doi Chaang咖啡时,直觉手中握着的这杯,绝非普通的咖啡。当然大人我并非世界冠军咖啡的无敌粉丝,但对于咖啡还是有些执着的 -微苦而不太酸,缓缓地回甘,正是大人所追求的那份滋味。

Doi Chaang Sutera的负责人Adam告诉大人,Doi Chaang的咖啡豆是生长在泰北清莱海拔1200-1600米高山上的阿拉比卡咖啡豆,品种为Caturra, Catimor及Catuai。不说您不知,Doi Chaang咖啡豆曾被评选为全球1%最好的咖啡豆呢!而种植此等优质有机咖啡豆的正是高山上的少数民族阿卡族和傈傈族。当年泰皇为了让少数民族能脱离种植大麻的困境,积极推广农作物种植计划,经过多方尝试,发现此地最适合种植咖啡豆!而这些由少数民族们颗颗亲选的有机咖啡豆则是以公平交易的方式销往国际,完全没有经过任何仲介,此举非但大幅度改善农民的生活,咖啡迷们又能喝到上好咖啡,真是双赢的方式!

The story of Doi Chaang Coffee is as rich as the coffee itself, is far more than its award-winning single-estate, premium Arabica coffee rated in the top 1% of the world’s best. It is part travelogue, part anthropology, part business/marketing and part morality tale. According to Adam (owner of Doi Chaang Caffe Sutera), the richness of Doi Chaang coffee starts from a small village that is set in the mountainous region of the Chang Rai province of Northern Thailand, home to a hill tribe born of Akha heritage. It was after 1983 when their king mandated the eradication of opium crops in favour of viable alternative agriculture practices. The farmers were given the highest quality Arabica coffee plants as they fostered an expertise with the new produce, naturally cultivate a variety of Arabica plants in altitudes between 1200 and 1600 meters above sea level.

Doi Chaang Coffee is certified organic, shade grown, hand picked, fresh water washed and sun dried. Each bean is hand sorted and freshly roasted to ensure the highest possible quality for each cup of Doi Chaang Coffee. In essence, all coffee is Organic, beyond Fair Trade and 50% Grower Owned, ensuring a sustainable new business model and a win-win approach that provides equitable profit for all.

坐在这家弥漫浓浓工业风的Doi Chaang里,经Adam仔细讲述这大有来头的辉煌历史之后,大人对于Doi Chaang的咖啡口味更是着迷了。回头一看,Adam已端出了4杯口味独特的咖啡 - Iced Doi Chaang、Pandan LatteLemon Grass Americano 和 Espresso Soda

Celebrating Doi Chaang‘s rich history with a raw, unfinished look with a thoughtfully designed interior that are as much about function as style, Adam offers a break from a hectic day of work, shopping or family duties. Many come here to hold court with their family and friends, relax and simply enjoy the ambiance. We were treated to 4 different blends to start our much anticipated, but rather the unusual gastronomic journey.

Iced Doi Chaang绝对是他们家的秘制招牌饮料,颜色层次分明,味道香醇顺滑,夏日炎炎的午后,大人我一喝就爱上了!

The signature Iced Doi Chaang is unlike the usual coffee you would get in cafes. The taste is closer to Vietnamese drip coffee with added milk, which was very refreshing; a perfect kind of perk me up for a lazy afternoon.

第二杯Pandan Latte则是热饮,大人将杯缘举起闻香,香兰叶的清香扑鼻,竟久久不舍把杯放下。Adam特别强调选用新鲜香兰叶是其诀窍哦!Pandan Latte以蒸奶泡搭配,喜欢热饮的密探们真的别错过哟!
The Pandan Latte is a warm, sweet, refreshing coffee concoction for all seasons and uniquely Malaysian, using only the freshest hand-picked pandan leaves, which we all fell instantly in love with too.

接下来这2杯则是大人从没看过没喝过的口味,Lemon Grass AmericanoEspresso SodaLemon Grass Americano 香茅和咖啡?看似重口味的原料,会不会互相抢戏呢?结果还是强大的咖啡香胜出啊!而Espresso Soda则像是咖啡界的气泡饮料,在一阵凉意后Espresso竟在口中慢慢回甘,好神奇!这4杯咖啡真的让大人开了眼界啊!

The Iced Lemongrass Americano and Expresso Soda gave a refreshing lemon-lime taste with a tinge of mint & ginger that somehow redefine what we used to know, and appreciate in typical ice coffee drinks. Words could not quite describe the “kicking” sensations we have been through, so you are better off savoring the drinks for yourself (seriously)!

与城中坊的Doi Chaang分行不同的是,Sutera分行除了咖啡蛋糕外,也推出各类主食供选择。配料超丰富,份量超大的午餐与晚餐配套非常划算哦!午餐套餐每份RM19.90, 含主食(Spaghetti/Rice, 海鲜除外),热饮 (Cappucino/Flat White/Latte)及雪糕;晚餐套餐每份RM23.90, 含主食(Spaghetti/Rice, 海鲜除外),热饮 (Cappucino/Flat White/Latte)及蘑菇汤。若你不想点套餐,也能选择他们家丰富的大早餐!肉饼可是自制的呢!(No Pork No Lard),价格非常亲民。Ham & Bacon Aglio Olio, DC Signature Quesadilla, 黄梨炒饭及自制蘑菇汤都是许多粉丝爱点的美食哦!大人此刻只恨自己为什么没有4个胃啊!

Unlike the first cafe outlet in JB City Square, Doi Chaang Caffe Sutera offers a hearty menu of set lunches starting from RM19.90, comprising a main course (spaghetti / rice, excluding seafood), beverage (Cappucino/Flat White/Latte) and Affogato. For an additional RM 4, you could complete your set dinner with a rich and creamy mushroom soup. For those who enjoyed all day brunch, their Ham & Bacon Aglio Olio, DC Signature Quesadilla, Pineapple Fried Rice also came highly recommended, amongst others. If only we could make room for more “dishes”, surely this would give us another perfect “reason” to be back, right Adam (LOL)?
